KNWO has a total of around 280 staff, spread out over Karenni state, and in and around the refugee camps along the Thai-Myanmar border. A majority of the staff work in the refugee camps, providing essential services to the camp residents. KNWO also has specially trained staff who run the Safe House for GBV survivors in Loikaw, Karenni state.

Staff are provided with regular training that allows them to do their jobs to a high standard. Training that they have undergone includes: project and programme management, data gathering, participatory research, proposal and report writing, financial management, facilitation, advocacy, and campaigning.
