Education is the foundation for progress. Keeping this in mind, KNWO has collaborated with various partners to provide education advancement opportunities for women and girls in the refugee camps along the Thai-Myanmar border, as well as in Karenni state.

We collaborate with the Kalyana Mitta Foundation, to provide support for primary & secondary school development, including the need for teachers. We are also working to improve the education system, especially around the villages of Bawlakeh township. In the refugee camps, we work with WEAVE (Women’s Education for Advancement & Empowerment) to provide a nursery school programme.

In addition, we have the Women’s Study Programme, in conjunction with WEAVE. This is a 2 year course for women & girls who have had limited access to education. We also have an internship programme, for 1 to 3 month placements. Some interns return to work with us after graduation.
